HG GNR-000

GN Sefer

FG GN Sefer Box
Release 2008. 12 (February 2009 issue)
Price ¥1,200

Following the Gundam Rasiel included as a bonus with the January 2009 issue of Dengeki Hobby,
the February issue came bundled with the GN Sefer. The GN Sefer plays a role similar to the 0 Raiser in 00,
combining with Rasiel to power up the GN Drive.

As you'd expect from a magazine bonus kit, the molded color is a single white,
but the overall detail has such sharp angles that the sculpt feels really impressive.
The parts count is simple, but it does come with a decent range of combination gimmicks based on various configurations.. though

According to the lore, there are 3 GN Sefers in total, so it's possible to combine all three. (Which basically means "go buy 3 copies of the magazine" -_-) The catch is, as shown in the photo above, you'll need to do some modding to link all 3 GN Sefers in a chain. And it's not just a simple matter of drilling holes — you also have to rework the pin sizes from scratch, so it's a pretty tough job for us mere mortals..;

On the other hand, instead of chaining all three GN Sefers together, you can attach 2 sets to the back and 1 set to the feet without any modding at all. Raziel combined with all 3 GN Sefers looks incredibly imposing — even with the unpainted, pale white body, it gives off a really sculptural vibe. (Come to think of it, sculptures are usually white to begin with, so maybe that makes sense..;)

On top of that, according to the magazine guide, the GN Sefer is compatible with all kinds of HG kits — Gundam Exia, Kyrios, Virtue and the Thrones, GN Arms, 00 Gundam, you name it. And that makes sense, because the way the GN Sefer attaches to an MS is by plugging into the action base peg hole between the legs. Since pretty much every recent kit comes with an action base mounting part, it seems like the GN Sefer was cleverly designed to be compatible with nearly all of them. These various attachment gimmicks are generally solid and hold well, so there's no real trouble getting things to connect.

Raziel and the GN Sefer may be magazine bonus kits, but aside from the lack of color separation and articulation, they're actually quite impressive kits in terms of looks and detail. They seem like a pretty attractive pick especially for those who enjoy painting. :-)
