Adapter for combining with Arios/Seravee

To combine the XN Raiser with other units, you'll need to repeatedly disassemble and reassemble various parts.

1. 0 Raiser + XN Raiser

To combine with the 0 Raiser, first remove the 0 Raiser's small wings and tail wings.

Attach the four removed small wings and tail wings onto the XN Raiser body.

Combine the remaining parts as shown above..

Slot the sword part in at the top..

Plug the body into the back of the 0 Raiser and you're done!

This kit was included with the Hobby Japan 40th Anniversary issue (2009.10), and it's the XN Raiser — essentially an enhanced parts set for the 0 Raiser. Just like the previous supplement kits, it's molded in a single color on one white runner, and unlike the GN Sefer that came with Dengeki Hobby, this one can pull off a variety of configurations all on its own. Like Rasiel and the GN Sefer, the color may be a washed-out white, but the detail and edge work are crisp, so the molding quality is pretty solid.

The XN Raiser is described primarily as an enhanced parts set for the 0 Raiser, but in practice it's designed to combine with 00 Raiser, 00 Gundam, Cherudim, Arios, Seravee, and more. There's a bit of a forced feel to some of it in order to maximize versatility, but after plugging it into kit after kit, the feeling I get is "man, they really went all out." ^^;

Sure, the idea is to boost the purchase value by making it compatible with all sorts of things, but once you paint it up nicely, it really does feel like a pretty sharp-looking option parts set. The color separation isn't there, but honestly, in terms of style and detail, I think it actually edges out the HG 0 Raiser.

Anyway, even if it is just a magazine supplement, I think it'll be a really fun item for the painting and customizing crowd. The base color takes paint really well, so it's also a nice little supplement for earthlings looking to break into the hobby and get some practice in. :-)
