Genoace Custom

Release 2011. 10
Price ¥600

Four AG kits were released simultaneously in October 2011 alongside the Gundam AGE anime, and the fourth and final one of the bunch is the Genoace Custom. As the name suggests, it's a variation of the previous Genoace — the basic skeletal design is similar, but the head, backpack, shoulders, and weapons have all been changed, and the overall color scheme has been switched to white.

Given the design specs, the whole kit is inevitably molded in white. It could easily look bland and washed-out, but the mold edges are actually pretty decent, so it ends up looking more three-dimensional than you'd expect. And just like the Genoace, the canopy section on the head is done in clear green, which gives it a nice little accent.

This is an AG lineup that's all about proportions with articulation basically thrown out the window — and as usual, the solid-looking proportions you get from a quick straight build are really something. Since there are no real joints to speak of, nothing feels loose either. Honestly, it feels more like a game figure accessory (?) that uses chips. That said, there's something oddly satisfying about building one of these AG kits — once you finish one, you kind of want to build more. Either way, as a new release, it's a pretty good deal for the price. :-)
