This kit is the Nu Gundam released in the EG (Entry Grade) line. Like its predecessors, it features polycap-free joints and maximum color separation without any seals — and it delivers that same clean, quality feel we've come to expect. It's a fantastic kit.

First off, being a Nu Gundam, it's noticeably larger than the First Gundam, and the part count feels higher to match. The eyes and the yellow V-shape below the waist — areas that the HGUC just covered with seals — are properly color-separated here. Even the yellow verniers on the calves and side skirts, and the yellow tips of the feet, are broken out as separate parts, which actually puts it ahead of the HGUC in those areas. The proportions are slightly more bulked up compared to the HGUC, with a thicker torso and thighs, giving it a sturdy, well-grounded look.

The articulation is flexible and impressive, though compared to how sensational the EG First was, it feels just a touch less dynamic by comparison. That said, it's still easy to pose and feels great in hand — there's real fun to be had here. What's especially remarkable is that it achieves excellent joint feel without any polycaps at all. The joints move smoothly while holding their positions well, and you can't help but be genuinely impressed by Bandai's engineering — pulling off this level of joint strength and articulation through mold technology alone. The one caveat with polycap-free construction is that repeated posing over time may cause some wear and loosening, and the shoulders in particular look like they could be a bit more vulnerable in that regard.

The weapons loadout covers the basics: beam rifle, shield, and beam saber — though no beam effect part is included for the saber. It is compatible with the HGUC Nu Gundam's beam effect parts, so you can borrow those. The HGUC's fin funnels are also compatible, but a lot of people will probably be disappointed that fin funnels and a bazooka weren't included with this kit.

All in all, this is an incredibly clean, polished kit that delivers outstanding value for the price. The molded colors, color separation, articulation, and the sheer joy of putting it together are all top-notch. The small gates mean you can practically snap parts off by hand, and cleaning them up is a breeze. It's a kit that can satisfy everyone from beginners to seasoned builders — pure ¥1,000 happiness, plain and simple. :-)
