This kit is the Strike Gundam Light Package version released as an EG (Entry Grade). Much like the previously released EG First Gundam Light Package version, the body is released first without any weapons — though unlike the First, which came with no weapons at all, this one does include two Armor Schneiders.
Like the EG First Gundam, small gates are used so you can easily remove parts without nippers, though you'll still want to clean up the gates if you're going for a neater finish. Excellent color separation is achieved with a minimal number of parts, and the articulation is surprisingly flexible without any polycaps. That said, the joints feel stiff rather than smooth — just like the EG First — but that means you won't have to worry about joint strength at all.
That said, it doesn't quite deliver the same culture shock as the EG First. Part of that is probably because it's the second EG Gundam, but it also feels ever so slightly behind the EG First in overall articulation. Of course, that's only because the EG First set such a high bar — this kit still has more than enough articulation to pull off all kinds of dynamic poses. On top of that, the sculpt and detail feel like a straight copy of the HGCE Strike Gundam, which does take away some of the novelty.
Either way, it's great to see Gunpla continuing to come out in the fresh EG format. Sure, it's a light package without any weapons, but that's also what makes it a ¥500 kit that anyone can casually enjoy — arguably the best bang for your buck out there. :-)
