This kit is the FG (First Grade) Char's Zaku II, released in 1999 to commemorate Gundam's 20th anniversary. Just like the FG Gundam, it follows the same format as the old 1/144 Zaku, but with the design remodeled in a PG style.

The molded color is still just the one sausage-pink shade, and aside from the ankles now being articulated, the overall joint layout is pretty much the same as the old kit. That said, the refined sculpt and proportions, along with the slightly expanded range of motion, make a world of difference when it comes to posing. The joints also feel smoother and hold their positions better than the old version.

Assembly is snap-fit just like the FG Gundam, so you can put it together easily without any glue. It's a great little kit for killing time or practicing your painting skills — you get that modern sculpt quality in the classic old-school format. :-)
