The first release out of the gate was the Mecha Collection VF-31J Siegfried — a kit that comes in a tiny box just like the Yamato Mecha Collection, built to a compact scale roughly the size of a cigarette pack.

The box size and overall concept are similar to the Yamato Mecha Collection, but the quality of the contents is on a whole different level, as you'd expect from a modern release. The sculpt and proportions are excellent, and despite its small size it's packed with fine detail and smart parts breakdown — a small kit that really punches above its weight. Sure, there's barely any color separation to speak of given the size, but even just slapping on the seals makes the straight build look pretty decent. Throw in some panel lining and a paint job and it'd look even better.
