The 7th Star Wars Vehicle Model release bundles the TIE Fighter and TIE Advanced x1 from the original Episodes 4–6 together. Just like the First Order TIE Fighter Set, it's 1/144 scale with a single molded color, so a straight build alone doesn't look all that great. In my case, I painted the solar panel sections with a black Gundam Marker, and the difference before and after painting is really noticeable.

With the First Order TIE Fighter, you had to paint gray over a black base, which made it hard to cover the molded color — but with this kit, you're painting black over a gray base, so it's much easier to work with. Proper masking tape and a full paint job would obviously look even better, but even just going over it with a painting Gundam Marker gives you a pretty solid result. (And of course, adding panel lining on top of that makes it even better.)

Just like the previous releases, this is a kit that delivers plenty of eye-catching detail despite its small size, and I'd definitely recommend it to any Star Wars fan who doesn't mind doing a bit of partial painting. :-)
