The Star Wars Vehicle Model line has released the Death Star II from Episode 6: Return of the Jedi. This lineup has always come out at whatever scale fits a reasonable size, but this time they've gone ahead and released it at the unprecedented scale of 1/2,700,000.

As per the lore, it has that half-finished look, and one side of the kit is open to show the complex interior layered inside. Despite not using all that many parts, it still manages to feel three-dimensional and detailed, making the build surprisingly fun. The sculpt looks great even as a straight build, but adding panel lining really brings out the outlines and depth even more.

There are no real moving parts to speak of, so you're basically just enjoying it as a display piece — but even though it's only about the size of an egg, the fact that the Death Star II got an injection-molded kit at all is pretty significant in itself. :-)
