2009 Odaiba 1:1
Gundam On-Site Limited Edition
2009 Odaiba 1:1
Gundam On-Site Limited Edition
This kit is a limited edition sold on-site to commemorate the 1:1 Gundam on display in Odaiba, Tokyo during the summer of 2009. It takes the existing HG Gundam 30th Anniversary First kit, swaps out the box art, and adds a separate stand and a new manual. So the kit itself is 100% identical to the original.
The stand included with this kit is honestly nothing to write home about, but the 1/144 Amuro figure is surprisingly intricate and really catches your eye. They boast about the micrometer-level precision machining, but it's so small you can barely appreciate it. ^^;
To me, the separately produced manual seems to be the most worthwhile thing in the box. It includes bonus content covering the construction process of the 1:1 Gundam, and it's actually pretty interesting stuff. (See the scans above.)
It's not a kit with any groundbreaking features, but it does feel like it has value as a commemorative piece for the 1:1 Gundam — in the truest sense of the word. :-)
