Gundam 30th Anniversary

Special Clear Parts

Release date: 2009. 12 / Price: ¥4,800

This kit is an MG clear exterior parts version released to commemorate Gundam's 30th anniversary. It's essentially the same contents as the original kit, but with one extra clear runner added. In other words, it lets you choose between standard armor and clear armor for specific parts, so for the basic kit features please refer to the normal version review — this review only covers the added clear parts.

MG Strike Freedom Gundam Review

◆ Coverage and Effect

Some of the armor on one arm/leg has been made clear, and you can apply them to either the left or right side as you prefer. The inner armor detail is nice and dense, and with the gold frame underneath, you get a really great view of the internals.

◆ Difficulty of Swapping

The arm armor structure is a bit unique, so you'll want to follow the manual carefully when disassembling and reassembling. The leg section is pretty straightforward to swap out. Overall, since there isn't a huge amount of armor to deal with, the swapping process is fairly easy.

◆ Overall Impressions

The clear quality is great and it really shows off the gold frame nicely, making these very effective clear parts. That said, the coverage feels a bit too limited — it would've been so much better if it applied to the whole body. Definitely leaves you wanting more. :-)
