Hot on the heels of Char's Gelgoog, the 1/100 mass production type Gelgoog was released right after, and the runners are 100% identical — only the molded colors have been changed. The one difference is that the round belly sticker included with Char's Gelgoog is not present here.
Anyway, since this is purely a 100% color variation kit, all the characteristics are the same, so if you want to know the details on each section, please check out the 1/100 Char's Gelgoog reviewfor reference. Just like Char's custom, the joint structure isn't much of an improvement over the 1/144 Gelgoog, but even so, compared to the simpler 1/144, this one does feel more solid overall with a bigger, more well-proportioned build.
This kit's significance is basically: "now that Char's version is out, let's swap the molded colors and release the mass production type too." Since the structure is identical, if you're planning to paint it anyway, it really doesn't matter whether you build the mass production type or Char's custom. Structurally, the downsides outweigh the upsides on this older kit — but if you're the kind of modeler who loves customizing, there's actually a lot of room for improvement here, which could make it an even more fun build. :-)
