1/100 Zogok

Price ¥800

Here's the 1/100 Zogok — a mech that exists only in the setting and never actually appeared in the anime, alongside the Acguy trio series. As you can see right away, thanks to the three-way color separation on the body, the overall look is on a completely different level compared to the solid red 1/144. The catch, though, is that aside from this color separation, nothing else has improved — and that's the real trap here T_T

The Zogok's signature arm punch slide gimmick is reproduced well just like on the 1/144, but the hold is weak and it keeps drooping down — same problem as the 1/144. The elbows and knees do technically have joints, but they barely move at all, like ghost joints (?), so the arms and legs are just as stiff. In the end, the only pose you can really pull off is standing straight up and firing the arm punch — same story as before.

That said, in terms of parts breakdown, this is actually among the best of the old-school kits — so even if it's not perfect to spec, it's still a fun straight build on its own. The fact that even the mono-eye embedded in the center of the upper body is broken out as a separate part was a pretty bold design choice for its time.

Anyway, both the joint strength and articulation are disappointing, but this is an old-school kit that at least deserves credit for its looks. You'd really be better off painting it and modifying the joints, but it's also a kit I'd recommend to old-school fans who just want to snap-fit together a unique One Year War Zeon mech :-)
