The 1/100 Real Type Gimm was released as the last and seventh Real Type kit in the 1/100 old-release first lineup. The GM is normally written as "GM" in English, but this kit spells it "Gimm" everywhere from the box art to the manual. Since the regular 1/100 GM kit uses "GM," it seems like they deliberately went with a different English spelling just for the Real Type version to make it stand out.
The basic contents are the same as the regular version, so for a detailed look at the structure, check out the 1/100 GM review— this review is really about enjoying the changed molded colors and the added decals. As you can see, unlike most other Real Type kits where the molded colors generally got darker, the GM here actually went the other way and got much brighter — almost pure white, like the Gundam. That's actually a nice bonus, since the waterslide decals really stand out against it....
The waterslide decals are fewer in number compared to other Real Type kits, so the application process was relatively manageable — though the decals didn't want to separate from the backing paper cleanly, which made things quite a struggle. That kind of issue can really be hit-or-miss depending on how the kit was stored, and the decal material itself feels noticeably different from the other Real Type kits. Unlike the smooth, slick feel of the earlier ones, the Real Type Gimm's wet decals have this almost cloth-like texture — slightly rough and tough — which makes me think the print surface material is just different to begin with. On the bright side, they don't tear easily, so there's less chance of losing a decal mid-application, which is a relief.
Anyway, it's a kit that adds decals on top of the same price as the regular version, and compared to other Real Type kits, the color scheme is one that wouldn't look out of place in the main series — so it feels like a more approachable side-story kit overall. :-)
