The third entry in the F90 series is the V-Type, which stands for VSBR (Variable Speed Beam Rifle). It features wing-type stabilizers on both shoulders and the sides of the legs, with the VSBR mounted on the backpack. In terms of lore, it's a test unit for the new beam weapon known as the VSBR, and is essentially the direct predecessor to Gundam F91, which carries similar equipment.

The base body reuses the exact same runners as the previous A/D/S and P-Types, and just like the P-Type, it uses that system where you split the new runner in half and snap the parts together as a whole unit. As a bonus, this kit also features the very first beam shield in Gunpla history — a gimmick that would later show up frequently in the F91 and V Gundam series. On top of that, unlike the earlier F90 kits, this one comes with articulated fingers, which seem to be there mainly so it can hold the VSBR in a convincing way.

The VSBR can be aimed forward to fire, just as depicted in the lore, but the barrel is a bit too short so it doesn't look quite as impressive as you'd hope. The grip section slides to let you reposition it freely, but actually getting the arm into a good pose is trickier than it sounds. The shoulder stabilizers are fixed, while the three fins on the leg stabilizers can each move independently — though they don't hold their position well and tend to droop downward.

All in all, it's a weapon pack with some real significance as the experimental precursor to F91, and as a variation kit, the visuals are pretty solid in their own right. :-)
