This is the old-release 1/60 Shining Gundam, and as you'd expect from a big-scale kit, it features more detailed color separation and gimmicks. On top of that, the parts that open up in Super Mode have gold plating on the inside, which gives the whole thing a really premium feel.

The Super Mode transformation gimmick also feels a step up from the 1/100 — you get two face mask options (movable and fixed), the leg panels open up nice and wide, there's a sliding gimmick for the front of the feet, and the cockpit hatch opens up too.

With a kit this big, joint strength is naturally a concern, but the polycap tolerances are nice and tight, so everything holds together solidly overall. On the flip side, the articulation actually feels worse than the 1/100, so you do lose a bit of posing freedom.

Also, the articulated fingers — same design as the 1/100 — have a slightly weak grip, which makes holding the beam saber feel a little unreliable. Aside from that, though, the overall stability is pretty good.

All things considered, it's a surprisingly solid kit for an old-release from '94. And at ¥3000, it's great value for the size — if you're into the G Gundam series, this is definitely a fun and worthwhile build even today. :-)
