This is the old-release 1/60 G Gundam, and it's an upgrade over its predecessor, the 1/60 Shining Gundam, in quite a few ways. First off, LEDs have been added to the chest's Energy Multiplier — the light-up effect isn't exactly jaw-dropping, but it does give the kit a special feel. It runs on 2 AAA batteries, which aren't the most common size locally, but you can easily pick them up online.

The 1/60 Shining Gundam used the same finger mechanism as the 1/100, where the index finger and the remaining fingers each moved as one solid chunk. The 1/60 G Gundam, on the other hand, gives every single finger its own individual mid-joint bend — a noticeably more premium approach. And despite having more moving parts, the joints are actually sturdier than before. It may not look quite as clean as the PG's single-piece molded fingers, but in terms of functionality it's a whole lot better.

On top of that, there's a gimmick where lifting the shoulder cover causes the internal machine gun to automatically pop out, and the front and rear skirts have a unique structure that lets them spread sideways as well — all of which gives it a distinctly different feel from the 1/100 in a number of ways.

The limb articulation also feels a step up from the 1/60 Shining Gundam. It's a big kit, but the joint strength is solid throughout, making it easy and comfortable to pose. Even the beam saber storage on the side skirts — which can often feel loose and fiddly — holds firmly, giving the whole kit a great sense of stability.

A clear orange hand for the Bakunetsu God Finger is also included separately, and the forearm deployment and wing deployment are both well-reproduced. The grip is strong enough to hold the large beam saber without any issues.

All in all, the quality feels like a genuine step up while the price stayed the same — so even though it's an older kit, if you're into G Gundam I'd highly recommend picking it up even now. It's safe to say this is the best-quality 1/60 kit to come out of the 20th century. :-)
