This is the 1/100 Gundam Maxter released as part of the old-style G Gundam series. There's no fancy system inserts or injection runners, but much like the 1/100 Master Gundam, it still manages to show off a color combination that sets it apart from the 1/144 — achieved with simple parts breakdown and seals alone.

What really stands out is how Gundam Maxter's unique gimmicks have been upgraded compared to the 1/144. The Fighting Knuckle on the forearm is articulated, and there's a movable handle inside the shoulder armor so you can pull off a more convincing Burning Punch. On top of that, the Boxer Mode chest armor — which in the 1/144 was only available in a separately sold upgrade set — is included here as a swappable part, and there's even a slide gimmick that lets you spread the shoulders wider to recreate that broad-shouldered Boxer Mode look.

Articulation is decent enough — nothing special, but the joint strength is solid. That said, despite all the dynamic accessories, it's actually a bit tricky to get exciting poses out of it, and you tend to end up with somewhat flat-looking stances. On the plus side, a shield is included that wasn't in the 1/144, and the Gigantic Magnum's grip can be folded in so it can be stored on the side skirt.

All in all, it's a pretty decent kit from a gimmick standpoint, but it's not exactly a showstopper in terms of overall proportions, looks, or how it feels to pose. Still, since this is the only 1/100 Gundam Maxter out there — no MG has ever been released — it's a nice little piece for anyone with fond memories of this mobile suit. A solid old-kit pick for the fans. :-)
