The 4th entry in the Silhouette Formula series is the 1/100 G-Cannon Magna, based on the G-Cannon. Compared to the other Silhouette Formula kits, there are fewer changes from the original F91 kit — only the shoulders, upper body, head, and weapons have been redesigned, with the remaining 70% of the body carried over straight from the original G-Cannon.

So rather than the design changes, what really catches your eye is the shift to a red molded color. The key weapon upgrade is also noteworthy — the machine cannon has been replaced by a large beam cannon. As a bonus, you can also swap in the original G-Cannon upper body and machine cannon, and since all the original G-Cannon runners are included, you could even build the whole thing as a red G-Cannon if you wanted.

Since the original G-Cannon was already a pretty high-quality kit, this one delivers the same solid feel. Articulation is a bit limited, but the joint strength is solid and it feels great in hand. The newly added beam cannon can be positioned at a wide range of angles, allowing for some really dynamic poses. The one downside is that the red molded color has a distinctly old-school vibe to it — but aside from that, it actually feels like a step up in quality over the original G-Cannon.

All in all, this is a kit with great quality and style — even building it now, it's still a genuinely fun kit to put together. :-)
