The 5th entry in the Silhouette Formula series is the newly designed 1/100 Neo Gundam. The basic concept is an extension of the F91 lineage, and while it shares a similar style to the existing F91 and RXF91, it does sport some slightly different design choices here and there.

The biggest standout feature is the Core Fighter that attaches to the back of the body — it can transform between backpack form and Core Fighter form without any extra parts. On top of that, a large weapon with the quirky name G-B.R.D (Generative Beam Rifle Device) is included, and you can even combine it with the Core Fighter for another display option.

Articulation and joint strength are below average, so pulling off dynamic poses is a bit of a challenge — but thanks to the oversized G-B.R.D, you can still get some pretty distinctive poses out of it. The system inserts also give it solid color separation, and the proportions are decent enough, so the straight build itself is plenty fun.

This kit stands out for its excellent Core Fighter gimmick, unique weapon, and fresh Gundam design. The overall quality is solid enough that it's still a fun build even by today's standards. :-)
