Gun Blastor was released as the 11th kit in the old 1/144 V Gundam series. In terms of lore, it's the space-use variant of the Gun-EZ — essentially a variation kit with only the backpack swapped out. That said, the molded colors are completely different, so visually it comes across as quite a distinct machine.

So aside from the changed exterior parts, the core characteristics are the same as the 1/144 Gun-EZ — including the annoying shoulder joints that pop off easily and make posing a pain. On top of that, the backpack is larger now, and it pops off just as easily, making things even more frustrating. The poor part retention really does make this a kit that's harder to have fun playing around with.

On the flip side, the new molded colors give it more of a Gundam-like feel (colorwise it almost looks like a Re-GZ), so it definitely looks a lot sharper. All in all, it's a variation kit that takes a step back in build quality, but the better-looking appearance kind of makes up for it. :-)
