The second entry in the old 1/100 V series is the V-dash Gundam. It's a variation kit based on the existing 1/100 V Gundam with dash-use parts added — specifically a new dash backpack and beam smart gun.

The added dash backpack uses seals rather than color separation to approximate the design colors, and the combination gimmick with the core fighter to form the Core Booster is solidly reproduced. The one downside is that the core fighter loses its vertical tail fins to make the Core Booster work.

Since the base body is identical to the existing 1/100 V Gundam, it shares all the same traits — great color separation and proportions, but also the same limited articulation and iffy joint stability. The newly added beam smart gun really needs both hands to pull off a proper pose, but thankfully the articulation is just enough to manage a two-handed grip.

This kit is noteworthy for faithfully reproducing additional transformation gimmicks like the Core Booster, and even if the overall build quality feels a bit middling, it's still a fun old-school kit worth putting together. :-)
