The 5th kit in the old-release V series HG lineup is the Zollidia. It's essentially the only 1/100 scale Zanscare Empire mobile suit, and it really nails that villainous silhouette.

First off, the color separation is pretty solid for a 1/100, so the straight build alone does a decent job of capturing the color scheme. That said, since there's no system insert or injection molding applied, a fair amount is covered by stickers, which does create a bit of an inconsistent look here and there.

Overall articulation is nothing special — not great, not terrible — but the joint strength is reassuringly solid, which is a plus. Dynamic poses are a bit of a stretch, but the stability is great, so in terms of just picking it up and playing around with it, this might actually be the most enjoyable kit in the V 1/100 series.

As for optional parts, you can swap the eye section between open and closed forms, and the series' signature articulated fingers and beam parts are included as well. That said, it's a bit of a shame that features like the beam strings deployment — which was even included on the 1/144 — and options like the Gatling gun are completely absent here.

All in all, it's a solid old-release kit with a reassuring level of quality — and honestly, this villain kit somehow looks better than the hero suits. :-)
