The second kit in the old Gundam W 1/100 series is the Shenlong Gundam. The overall concept stays true to the W 1/100 series approach — color separation is achieved without system injection runners, and a generous amount of chrome-plated parts and beam parts are included.

The articulation is about what you'd expect from an old-school kit, so pulling off really dynamic poses is a bit tough. That said, the joint strength is decent enough that posing isn't a hassle. It does feel slightly looser compared to the sturdy 1/100 Wing Gundam, though. Still, the vibrant colors and unique weapons give it a surprisingly satisfying visual presence when posed.

The Dragon Hang deployment gimmick on the right arm is cleanly reproduced and holds its position well, so you can arrange it however you like. You can even attach beam parts to the Dragon Hang for an even more flashy look. The Beam Glaive also has a clear beam part for the blade, and the shield is nicely divided with gold chrome plating.

It also looks quite different from the 2011 MG Shenlong Gundam, which got a heavy redesign by Katoki Hajime. The MG is definitely more refined, but the old 1/100 has a strong original feel to it, so they don't really overlap. Either way, the overall build quality is solid, and it's still a fun kit to put together even today. :-)
