This is the old-release 1/100 Gundam Virsago from the Gundam X series. The signature Strike Claw deployment and the Mega Sonic Cannon exposure gimmick on the waist are both well-reproduced, just like on the 1/144. Notably, even though the upper body is quite heavy, the extended waist joint holds everything in place nice and firmly.
The Strike Claw deployment gimmick has solid hold, though when stowed inside the shoulders it doesn't quite feel like it clicks into place perfectly. The middle hinge on the wings is also very stiff, while the pin that connects the wings to the body is actually loose — so like some earlier kits, the joint strength itself isn't bad, but the balance is a bit off. There's also a beam saber storage slot on the rear skirt, but the fit is loose and the saber tends to fall out easily.
The 1/144 Virsago already had pretty good color reproduction, so aside from the plated parts, the 1/100 doesn't have a huge advantage over it. That said, the Strike Shooter is a newly added weapon that opens up a variety of poses — you can use it combined as one piece, or split it into two and have the kit hold one in each hand.
It's nice that they tried to differentiate the 1/100 from the 1/144 with various gimmicks like these, but visually speaking, the 1/100's advantages beyond sheer size are a bit thin. Still, since a MG version has never been released, this old kit is definitely worth it for anyone who wants to build a big Virsago. :-)
