Straight build + waterslide decals

This is the old 1/220 Rick-Dias, and I personally have fond memories of painting this kit back when it came out as a Korean release in the late '80s. I remember it being small but surprisingly solid even back then — and sure enough, just like its predecessors, it manages to pack in decent joint articulation and weapons for such a tiny kit.

The small size actually works in its favor when it comes to weapon stability — better than the 1/144 or 1/100, in fact. Since you just plug the weapons straight into the hand holes, they naturally hold on tight. The bazooka mount on the backpack in particular was always a bit floppy on the 1/144 and 1/100 and never sat at the right angle, but on the 1/220 it locks in cleanly and sits perfectly vertical.

Like its predecessor the 1/220 Marasai, this kit is fully snap-fit, so you can put it together easily without any glue. It's molded entirely in red as a single color, but the overall volume and proportions are pretty well done.

Either way, this kit is notable simply for the fact that *his* red Rick-Dias got a release in this small scale, and it's a cute little build that any Gunpla fan can enjoy putting together casually. :-)
