--- SD Sangokuden model kit general notes -----------------
The SD Sangokuden lineup was released between 2007 and 2010, and all kits share a consistent, standardized format. The basic structure has the head and waist on rotation joints, while the arms and legs use ball joints — giving them more flexible articulation than older SD kits. The ball joints do tend to pop off during posing, but overall joint strength is pretty solid.

Each kit has a stamp on the bottom of the feet with the Three Kingdoms character's name carved in Chinese characters, and slide molds are used on the arms and some other parts for a cleaner finish. Removing the outer armor to get a light armor look is similar to earlier kits, and depending on the kit, some pretty large weapons are included too. System injection runners and color separation across 4–5 or more colors are also applied, so even with minimal seals the straight build looks great. All in all, it's a series that delivers a consistently solid level of quality, and you could definitely call it a hit that did a lot to bring SD kits to a wider audience.
------------------------------------------------------

This kit is the 4th release in the Sangokuden series — SD Shibai Sazabi — and as the name suggests, it's based on the Sazabi. Since Shibai (Sima Yi) is famous as a brilliant strategist, the kit uniquely lets you build it in either Armed Mode or Strategist Mode.

To switch from the combat-ready Armed Mode to Strategist Mode, you remove the head antenna, shoulder armor, and backpack, then attach a flat helmet front piece. You can also remove the side shoulder armor and the helmet itself to get something close to a light armor look, but that's not officially defined in the manual. The included weapons are a sword called Eun-a and the Hongikson — and you can combine the two to use them as Aik's greatsword.

The standout feature of this kit is being able to build it in either Armed Mode or Strategist Mode to match the character's personality. It's a solid, well-made Musha Gundam kit with plenty of personality. :-)
