--- SD Sangokuden general notes -----------------
The SD Sangokuden lineup was released between 2007 and 2010, and all the kits share a standardized format with consistent characteristics. The head and waist rotate, and the arms and legs use ball joints, giving them more flexible articulation than older SD kits. The ball joints do tend to pop out during posing, but overall joint strength is pretty decent.
Each kit has a stamp on the bottom of the feet with the character's name carved in Chinese characters, and slide molds are used on the arms and certain other parts for a cleaner finish. Removing the outer armor to get a light armor type is similar to earlier kits, and depending on the kit, some pretty large weapons are included too. System injection runners and color separation across four to five or more colors are also used, so even with a small number of seals, the straight build looks great right out of the box. All in all, this is a series that delivers a consistently solid level of quality, and it's safe to say it was a big hit that really helped bring SD kits to a wider audience.
------------------------------------------------------
This is SD Kanpei Gundam, the 11th release in the Sangokuden series, based on the S Gundam. True to his role as Guan Yu's eldest son, the style and color scheme share a similar concept to SD Guan Yu Gundam — though he does feel just a little smaller than his father.
His weapon is the Hwirina, which is actually bigger than his father's weapon. You can also connect SD Guan Yu Gundam's Gwia Yongwoldo to the back of the Hwirina to form a massive combined weapon called the Ssanggwi Yangin-do. On top of that, the Gwiyejo that comes attached to the backpack can be mounted on the forearm like a weapon.
It's a solid, no-frills kit that stays true to the series' concept, and it's even better when built alongside his father, SD Guan Yu Gundam. :-)
