--- SD Sangokuden Gunpla General Notes -----------------
The SD Sangokuden lineup was released between 2007 and 2010, and all the kits share a consistent, standardized build format. The head and waist rotate, while the arms and legs use ball joints, giving them more flexible articulation compared to older SD kits. The ball joints do tend to pop off during posing, but overall joint strength is pretty decent.

Each kit has a stamp on the sole of the foot with the character's name carved in Chinese characters, and slide molds are used on the arms and some other parts for a cleaner finish. Removing the outer armor to get a light-armor look is similar to previous entries in the series, and depending on the kit, larger weapons are sometimes included. System injection runners and color separation across 4–5 or more colors are also applied, so even with minimal seals, the straight build looks great right out of the box. Overall, it's a consistently well-made series that really helped bring SD kits to a wider audience — a genuine hit.
------------------------------------------------------

This is the 22nd kit in the Sangokuden series — the SD Troop Soldiers, based on the GM, the Federation's cannon fodder unit. Originally handed out as an event exclusive, it eventually got a proper retail release in 2009.

As you can see, this kit includes three Troop Soldiers in blue, red, and yellow. The body goes together with just 6 simple parts and no color separation, the head is fixed in place, and articulation is about as basic as it gets — only the shoulders and feet rotate. So yeah, don't expect much in terms of quality. But then again, being grunt characters, the simple and cheap build that lets you crank out a bunch of them is actually kind of the point. (That said, the hollow backs on the arms are a bit much...)

Each soldier comes with a spear and shield, and the shields can be linked together. You can also cut out flags from the manual to use with them. Either way, this is the kind of kit that gets more meaningful the more you build and display — perfect as background filler for your other general kits. It's definitely a "quantity over quality" situation. :-)
