This kit is the 8th release in the Sangokuden Gaiden: Buyuu Gekitouroku series — SD Gakushin Gundam — and is based on the SD Fa Huang released in 2003. The molded colors have been changed to a weighty combination of black, blue, and gray, with the upper body and shoulder armor redesigned and new head ornaments and weapons added.

The new weapon included is the Jade Flame Sword, and you can attach sound effect stickers reading "Gat~" and "Got~" to it.
