Sangokuden Gaiden Buyuu Gekitouroku is a side story to SD Sangokuden, featuring 12 characters who don't appear in the main series — each one getting their own episode as the protagonist. A total of 12 model kits were released, all of them variation kits based on existing kits with one or two new runners added. Most use kits from the '90s through 2003 as their base, so compared to the SD Sangokuden kits they tend to be smaller and feel lower in quality. The biggest defining feature of this series seems to be that each character has their own unique finishing move.

This kit is the 10th release in the Sangokuden Gaiden Buyuu Gekitouroku series — SD Ryoutou Gundam — and is based on the SD Gundam Mk-IV released in 2000. The molded colors of the main body are largely unchanged aside from the chest blue being slightly brighter, with the addition of a front helmet, shoulder armor, and new weapons.

The new weapon included is the Hakugin Jumonjisou, and with it comes the finishing move "Retsuka Jumonjisan" — wrapping the enemy and slashing them in a cross pattern. On top of that, an extra eye seal in an alternate style is also included.

Much like the previous Ganen Gundam, this one is based on an old-school original SD Gundam with just a bit of extra armor tacked on, giving it a somewhat awkward look as a warrior-type Gundam. At least Ganen Gundam had a significant molded color change going for it — this kit just feels like the existing kit with some gray armor slapped on, and it doesn't look all that cohesive. Setting aside the overall kit quality, it's hard to avoid calling this a pretty half-hearted variation. :-)
