--- SD Sangokuden Plastic Model General Notes -----------------
The SD Sangokuden lineup was released between 2007 and 2009, and all the kits share a standardized format with consistent characteristics. The head and waist rotate, and the arms and legs use ball joints, giving them more flexible articulation than older SD kits. The ball joints do have a tendency to pop off during posing, but overall joint strength is pretty decent.

Each kit has a stamp on the bottom of the feet with the character's name carved in Chinese characters, and slide molds are used on the arms and certain parts for a cleaner finish. Removing the outer armor to get a light armor type is similar to earlier kits, and depending on the kit, some large-scale weapons are included as well. System injection runners and color separation across 4–5 or more colors are also applied, so even with a small number of seals, the straight build looks great right out of the box. All in all, this is a series that delivers a consistently solid level of quality, and it's safe to say it was a hit that did a lot to bring SD kits to a wider audience.
------------------------------------------------------

This kit is the 37th release in the Sangokuden series — SD Tenshihou Shiba-i Sazabi — and it's an upgraded version of the original Shiba-i Sazabi. As befitting the final boss of the story, it's the last product to close out the SD Sangokuden plastic model lineup, and the highlight of the kit is the Gyokuou form inspired by the Nightingale.

The included weapons are the Ren'okusen and Meikoku no A (fangs), and the two can be combined in two different ways to form the "Kokkinn no Ayoku." Depending on how you arrange the weapons, you can configure it in either the military form or the Gyokuou form, and it feels noticeably more voluminous compared to a typical SD Sangokuden kit. As for the collaboration feature, you can apply parts from SD Tenshin Gasshin Chiyou Gundam and Kakuka Virsago Gundam to recreate the Chiyou Majou form.

What makes this kit special is that it just has presence on its own — and the Gyokuou form with the binders spread wide looks especially awesome. I personally have a huge soft spot for the Nightingale, so that probably adds to it, but if you're into kits with a big, chunky silhouette, I think you'll be pretty happy with this one. :-)
