--- BB Senshi Sangokuden Gaiden Buyuu Gekitouroku — General notes on the model kits -----------------
Sangokuden Gaiden Buyuu Gekitoukou is a spin-off of SD Sangokuden, featuring 12 characters who don't appear in the main story — each one getting their own episode as the protagonist. A total of 12 model kits were released, and all of them are variation kits based on existing kits with one or two new runners added. Most use kits from the '90s through 2003 as their base, so compared to the SD Sangokuden kits they tend to be smaller and feel a bit lower in quality. The biggest standout feature of this series seems to be that each character has their own unique special move.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This kit is the 12th release in the Sangokuden Gaiden Buyuu Gekitoukou series — SD Chouhou Gundam — and is based on SD Blade Gundam, which was originally released in 1995. The deep blue molded color has been changed to red, and a helmet, shoulder/chest armor, and new weapons have been added. Like the previous SD Ukin Gundam, two sets of leg extension joints are included.

The newly added weapon, the Raikyo, can have a sound effect seal reading "Bashi~" attached to it, and its special move is the "Bakuretsu Cho Raikyo," where it channels electricity through its body and unleashes a lightning dragon from the Raikyo to strike the enemy. The gimmick of extending a hidden blade from the toe tip, just like on Blade Gundam, is carried over as well.

With the leg extension joints added, the kit is noticeably taller and has a slightly wider range of leg articulation — it feels a bit more useful than it was on SD Ukin Gundam. The manual also guides you to apply the spare extension joints to SD Yufeng Gundam, though the molded colors clash quite a bit. It's clearly an attempt to compensate for the size gap between these older reused kits and the main SD Sangokuden lineup, but it's not exactly a satisfying solution.

Even with the longer legs, the old-kit feel in terms of build quality and overall package still shows the limits of what a reuse kit can be. Either way, this ends up being the kit that wraps up the much-talked-about and much-troubled Sangokushi Gaiden series. :-)
