The SD Legend BB line, which launched in 2012, is an upgraded, premium take on the major SD kits that were previously released as Musha or Knight Gundam series, brought up to date with the latest technology. This kit is the Strike Ryubi Gundam, released as the 7th entry in the SD Legend BB line. It's an upgraded take on the SD Ryubi Gundam from the BB Senshi Sangokuden series, with three Strike weapon packs added on top — quite a luxurious package.

The SD Ryubi Gundam itself was already a fairly late-run BB Senshi kit in the 300s, so it had decent quality to begin with. That means the size difference and quality gap between this and the original version are smaller compared to earlier Legend BB releases. That's probably why they went with the Strike weapon packs as the main addition — and thanks to them, you get a ton of different combination options to play around with.

Combining the weapon pack parts separately lets you build three distinct standalone units: the Enkou no Shinki, the Souryuu no Shinki, and the Souryuu armor. The Aile configuration is called Enkou Strike Gundam, the Sword configuration is Ryuujin Strike Gundam, and the Launcher configuration is Gekikou Strike Gundam. You can also combine everything into a Perfect Strike-style Ryukou Strike Gundam.

Each weapon pack faithfully follows the color scheme and weapon characteristics of the original designs, but has been completely remodeled in the Sangokuden style, which gives it a really fresh feel. The one downside is that with so much stuff hanging off it, there are quite a few parts that get in the way when you're trying to pose it. That said, it does make for a spectacular visual, and keeping with Sangokuden kit tradition, there's even a name stamp on the bottom of the feet.

All in all, between the great build quality, the flashy weapon packs, and especially those freshly reimagined weapons, this is a fantastic kit that delivers both visually and in terms of hands-on fun. :-)
