The SD Sangokuden series was released between 2007 and 2010, spanning 37 BB Senshi kits (#300–362). After that, a separate numbering system was used for the 46-kit Sangokuden BBW series (also known as Zhen Sangokuden). Many of the Sangokuden BBW kits were reuses of BB Senshi Sangokuden kits, but some were released as entirely new kits. Those BBW original kits have now been brought back under the BB Senshi numbering system as the 400-series SD Sangokuden series. This series launched in February 2018, with eight kits released all at once under BB Senshi numbers 405–412. With the exception of the last one — the Qubeley Diao Chan — all of them are repackaged versions of BBW series original kits with new accessories added.

This kit is the DongZhuo Zaku & BuDuiBing (DongZhuo Forces), released as part of the BB Senshi Sangokuden repackage series. It takes the existing Sangokuden BBW Zhen DongZhuo Zaku and adds three BuDuiBing figures. The DongZhuo Zaku gets a nice visual upgrade with metallic molding and gloss injection applied, giving it a much more premium look. As for the BuDuiBing, they're identical in both molded color and sculpt to the DongZhuo Forces soldiers that came with the SD Huzhen Gyan & BuDuiBing (DongZhuo Forces).
