SD Sangokuden was released between 2007 and 2010 as 37 BB Senshi kits (#300–362), followed by a separately numbered run of 46 Sangokuden BBW kits (a.k.a. Shin Sangokuden). While many of the Sangokuden BBW kits were reuses of the original BB Senshi Sangokuden molds, some were brand-new releases. Those BBW original kits have since been brought back under the BB Senshi numbering system — that's what the 400-series SD Sangokuden lineup is. This series launched in February 2018, with eight kits released all at once under BB Senshi numbers 405–412. With the exception of the last one — Diao Chan Qubeley — they're all repackaged versions of BBW series original kits with new accessories added in.

This kit is the HuangGai Gouf & Six Combining Weapons Set B, released as part of the BB Senshi Sangokuden repackage series. It's based on the Sangokuden BBW Shin HuangGai Gouf with six combining weapons (Set B) added to the mix. The HuangGai Gouf's molded colors come out looking a bit brighter than before, and the Set B combining weapons can be used together with the Set A combining weapons included in the previous release, the Vanguard Asshimar & Gafran Siege Weapon Set. You can combine all the weapons into a single form, or split them up into four separate combined weapons: the Shuigui Zhan, Huofeng Qiang, Mulong Jian, and Jinhu Dao.
