--- SD Gundam World Heroes general notes -----------------
This is a TV anime produced in 2021 as a follow-up to Sangoku Soketsuden, and just like the title "World Heroes" suggests, it draws on heroes from various eras as its motif. The plastic model line follows the same concept as Soketsuden, and even reuses the same shared frame runners from that series. On top of that, the way all the parts are put together and even the plastic feel are identical, so it's really not much of a stretch to just call this part of the same Sangoku Soketsuden model series rather than a true successor. (For the record, this kit's plastic feels relatively soft compared to others in the line.)
------------------------------------------------------
This kit is the SD Captain Qan[T] GF, released as No. 38 in the SD Gundam World Heroes line. It's the first of the 00-series SD kits where three units combine together, and as the name suggests, it's based on the 00 Qan[T].
Like its predecessors, this one requires a hefty amount of seal work — and sure enough, applying the seals (about an hour's worth) takes longer than the actual assembly. The seals aren't particularly difficult to apply for the most part, but if you're someone who hates seal work, that's definitely something to keep in mind. Weapons include a beam gun on the shoulder plus a GF beam rifle, and the articulation is still pretty limited as expected. That said, the design is sleek and the weapons are nice and chunky, so even a simple pose gives it a solid, commanding presence.
One thing worth noting — maybe because it's been a while since the last World Heroes kit, but the plastic feel has changed ever so slightly. Up until now, this series has been produced at Bandai's Chinese factory, and the plastic always felt a bit on the stiff side, which was a bit of a letdown. But this kit feels as smooth as something out of the original Shizuoka factory — gate cleanup is easier and assembly just feels more comfortable overall. It seems like the quality coming out of Bandai's Chinese factory has been upgraded to the point where there's no longer much difference from the main factory.
So yes, the heavy seal work is still there, but the sleek looks and improved plastic feel are a nice step up. If you like the style, this seems like a fun, easygoing SD kit to enjoy. :-)
