The Astraea Type-F has been released as the second variation of Gundam Astraea, a side-story kit from Gundam 00. In terms of lore, it's essentially the same unit as the original Astraea but with a different molded color, with only a handful of parts changed like the face mask and antenna. In other words, it's a kit that's very easy to turn into a variation.

This kit is designed so you can build or swap between the Type-F and Type-F2, where the Type-F is based on the Astraea with a slightly different face, and the Type-F2 follows the Exia's design. The parts that swap between Type-F and Type-F2 are as follows.

- Face / antenna
- Lens parts on the arms / legs
- Front skirt

Red molded color can look pretty cheap if it's even slightly off, but the Astraea's red feels deeper and more intense than most "that guy's custom red" out there. It looks way better in person than in photos. (In my experience, red is one of those colors that tends to come out looking worse in digital camera shots than it does in real life.)

Since 95% of the kit is identical to the 1/100 Gundam Astraea, there isn't much to say separately about this one beyond the molded color and the swap parts. It's still a kit that gives you a nice compact feel thanks to the generous weapons loadout, decent articulation, joints that hold up well enough, and fine panel lines throughout.

Bandai had some success with the Astray side-story kits back in the SEED days, and they're trying the same approach here with 00 — though the base quality is a step or two above those old SEED kits. Either way, there's not much to fault quality-wise, so if the look appeals to you, it's definitely worth picking up without hesitation^^ (It looks even better in person than you'd expect~)
