Straight build

Following the 00 Raiser, the 1/100 Cherudim Gundam along with the Arios and Seravee have all been released at once as Designer's Color versions. As with the previous release, the Cherudim Gundam Designer's Color version comes in a brighter, pastel-toned color scheme compared to the standard version. On top of that, a large number of Designer's version seals have been added, giving it an overall bright, vibrant, and luxurious look.

There's one more bonus on top of that — an LED unit from the 00 has been included, making it possible to light up the eyes. If you looked closely at the standard version, you could already tell that this LED gimmick had been planned from the start, so it seems like they were saving it for this Designer's Color variation. Personally, I had a feeling something like a limited or expanded edition might come out eventually, and well, I guess this is how it ended up... On the flip side, the lovely rainbow seals that came with the standard version have been dropped.

The basic kit characteristics are identical to the existing standard 1/100 version — decent articulation, solid proportions, easy assembly, and relatively sturdy joints all add up to a reliably good quality build, well above average. For those who felt the standard version's molded colors were a bit too dark and weren't really feeling it, the pastel-toned Designer's Color version is definitely softer and more delicate-looking. ^^

The price has gone up from ¥2600 to ¥3000 with the addition of the LED unit, but given that a large number of seals have also been included, I think it's still a pretty reasonable price. And it especially looks great displayed alongside the 00 Raiser Designer's Color version.

Unlike the Trans-Am variation that was mainly used in Season 1, Season 2 is going with the Designer's Color version as its variation — and while it might seem like a somewhat simple variation, I think the real value is in the fact that the finished look clearly surpasses the standard version with that premium feel. :-)
