Gundam Virtue

Kit Review

This is the FG Gundam Virtue — the beefy one — released a month later than the other Gundams. Even though it's an FG, it's priced at ¥700, which is on par with budget HGUC kits, and accordingly the box is bigger and the parts have more volume to them. The actual part count isn't all that high, but the design itself is just so bulked out that it probably drove the price up.

Right off the bat, the kit feels like it goes beyond a simple entry-level FG. Put simply, it feels more polished than the other FGs. Out of the first wave of FG "polka-dot Gundam" quartet, this one gives me the most satisfaction ^^

Part of that is obviously down to the original design having such incredible volume and presence, but I think it feels even better because the kit does a great job of bringing that bulk to life. Sure, in terms of color separation and articulation it's a step below HG level — as you'd expect from an FG — but the finished feel is almost like an HG, if that makes sense.

The articulation isn't anything special, yet the action poses still look really powerful, and even with less color separation it still manages to show off a surprisingly detailed color scheme. All things considered, this is the best of the FG Gundam quartet! ^^ I'm really looking forward to the HG Virtue and 1/100 Virtue too~
