Tieren ~ Ground Type

Kit Review

The Human Reform League's military-look MS, the Tieren Ground Type, has arrived in HG form.
Right off the bat — this is hands-down the most insanely articulated kit I've ever seen at the HG level...;;;
In fact, I'd go as far as saying that across all grades — HG, MG, and PG combined — there's probably no other kit that lets you pull off dynamic poses this easily and naturally.

As for color separation... this kit is a bit disappointing in that department. It's an overall monochrome kit, sure, but there are still a few color accent points here and there — like on the chest — and it feels like they just bulldozed right past them with a single color. The orange section on the chest in particular is handled with a sticker, which is a shame — if that part alone had been properly color-separated, this would've been a really sharp-looking kit. So once you actually build it, you're left wondering whether this is FG-grade or HG-grade in terms of color.

But the real strength of the HG Tieren is its absolutely insane articulation. The shoulders and arms are pretty great too, but thanks to the double-jointed hips, the range of motion is just beyond imagination. The forward and backward range is practically 360 degrees — no exaggeration — and it can spread sideways a full 180 degrees. On top of that, the double-jointed knees fold almost completely shut. And the ankles are remarkably flexible as well, so when it comes to leg poses, this kit pulls them off more "easily" and naturally than any other Gunpla out there.

On top of that, the torso has a pretty wide forward-and-back range of motion too, and the shoulder articulation is solid, so for action poses, this kit checks every single box. Joint strength is just right — poses don't fall apart easily — though if you keep fiddling with it for fun, there are signs it might loosen up a bit over time. One gripe: by design, the head is completely fixed in place. The mono-eye does move, which helps, but with the head being stationary, it does feel like it takes just a little bit of the dynamism away. ^^;

Sure, the molded colors are simple and the color separation is lacking — but the articulation is so outstanding that all the shortcomings just disappear. It looks like a heavy, military-style humanoid armored vehicle, yet its articulation blows even the nimble Exia clean out of the water — that contrast is what makes this kit so great. This level of gimmicks and articulation at this price point? I can't help but be impressed.
