Following Units 1 and 2, the last of the Trinity trio — Gundam Throne Drei — has now been released as an HG kit. Just like its predecessors, the body structure is the same, with only the molded colors, head, shoulders, and weapons changed. The three-kit variation was pretty transparently planned from the start based on the mobile suit designs, but the different color schemes and weapons give each one a surprisingly distinct personality.
Unit 3's defining feature is the massive GN Stealth Field generator on its back, which can move up, down, left, and right, and the field generator cover is also implemented as an opening type. The cover on the shoulder shield opens not by a hinge mechanism, but by swapping out parts.
Overall, the kit quality is top-notch with nothing much to complain about — both articulation and joint strength are above average. The real significance of releasing Throne Drei is that all three units are finally together, and the big draw is being able to recreate the combined action sequences from the show. Flip that around, though, and it also means this one feels a little lacking on its own...
Anyway, having all three lined up together definitely looks great, but I'm not sure how popular they'll be given that their in-show presence and action scenes were a bit underwhelming; compared to other variations like the Tieren or Flag, they kind of fall short in various ways too. That said, the quality itself is solid and above average, so for anyone who's interested, I'd say it's a pretty safe recommendation. :-)
