HG GN-0000 + GNA-010

00 Riser : Designer's Color ver.

Kit Review

Just like with the 1/100, a bundle pack of the 00 Gundam + 0 Raiser has been released as a separate kit at HG scale too. Unlike the 1/100 bundle which threw in a stand as a bonus, the HG version went a different route — changing the molded color to release this oddly named "Designer's Color" variant. Overall, the molded colors have been shifted to a pastel tone reminiscent of Peda style.

The new molded colors are quite soft and washed-out, giving it a noticeably different look compared to the standard release. Blue becomes sky blue, red becomes pink, dark gray becomes light gray.. The white parts, however, stay the same plain white. Depending on how you look at it, the colors have drifted away from the original, so opinions will be divided — but on its own, it does look pretty. ^^; Due to the nature of shooting under artificial lighting with a digital camera, the colors tend to come out a bit cooler than in person. In real life, the colors feel calmer and warmer than what the photos suggest.

Besides the molded color change, there's one small bonus — a large Celestial Being seal is included for the GN Shield. It's a bit on the modest side, but hey, it's better than nothing.

Overall quality is naturally identical to the standard release, and since the HG 00 Gundam base kit itself is higher quality than the 1/100, the 00 Raiser feels more stable and can pull off more dynamic poses than its 1/100 counterpart. Outside of the molded color change, there's really nothing else new to look at — it's a pretty simple variation — but the kit itself is genuinely good quality. If you're into pastel-toned colors, go ahead and grab it without hesitation. :-)
