HG GNZ-005

Garazzo

Kit Review

The Innovator's mobile suit, the Garazzo, has been released as an HG kit.
The Garazzo is basically a close relative of the Gadessa, and the actual kit shares the same runners as the Gadessa except for one runner. With the molded color shifting from a green grasshopper-like scheme to a vibrant purple, it's actually pretty hard to immediately notice how similar the two suits are unless you look closely.

Unlike the Gadessa, the Garazzo features newly designed head / crotch armor / shoulders / hands, and instead of the GN Mega Launcher that came with the Gadessa, it includes a clear-molded GN Claw. The price is the same at ¥1500, but in terms of sheer parts volume, the Gadessa with its GN Mega Launcher is a little more generous. Perhaps to compensate for the lower parts count,

The base kit quality is naturally similar to the Gadessa's.. The articulation is average and nothing special, but the design is quite attractive, so it does come alive with a dynamic feel when you put it in action poses. Joint strength is solid, the molded colors are nice, and it's pretty big for a 1/144 scale kit — there's a lot going for it. That said, just like the Gadessa, it carries over the same flaw where the folding toes tend to pop off easily. ;;

The design is quite unique, and setting aside its role in the story, it's definitely a kit worth building up nicely.. though honestly it also feels less like a traditional Gundam kit and more like a general mecha kit. Either way, if you like the design, it's a solid kit you can build without worrying too much about quality.
