0 Gundam, which appeared like a god in the early episodes of Gundam 00.. and only finally saw real combat near the end, has been released as an HG kit. 0 Gundam's design concept is a homage to the original First Gundam — it shares the same basic color scheme and design concept, but refined in the Gundam 00 style.

First off, the First Gundam homage design that seems aimed squarely at older fans is pretty nice. It's an old design, but with some modern elements worked in, you get this nice harmony between old and new.

The big highlight of this kit is none other than its articulation.. and the articulation is just insanely good. We've seen crazy articulation before with the HG Gundam 00, but that one always felt a bit like it was cheating with its joint structure. Like, how does the ankle just bend a full 90 degrees like that — it felt a little too good to be true.

But 0 Gundam.. shows such naturally smooth joint movement without compromising the base design at all, it almost feels like you're handling a ball-jointed doll. The ankle articulation in particular — achieved by connecting the ankle armor to one side — is genuinely impressive, and not just because of the wide range of motion, but because the way it bends actually looks convincing. As a result, it pulls off more naturally fluid leg poses than just about any other kit out there — MG included, and even PG!

With the latest polycaps in use, joint strength is more than solid enough, giving you that satisfying hands-on feel when posing.. You can bend it this way and that just a little and it holds a natural, sturdy pose — for that, it's truly best of the best. Setting aside the design that might not be everyone's cup of tea, it's without a doubt the most advanced 1/144 kit when it comes to articulation gimmicks.

Aside from its somewhat ambiguous origins, the kit itself is quality I'd highly recommend to any Gunpla fan. In MG terms, it deserves a perfect score in just about every category and then some, and the price is pretty reasonable too.. When you just want to enjoy the fun of building and playing around with it, nothing else really comes close.

All in all, this is a truly excellent Gunpla — the one I'd most recommend to anyone who's been feeling burned out on Gunpla.
The fact that we're getting Gunpla of this quality at this price and grade is something to be genuinely grateful for... :-)
