Cherudim Gundam GNHW/R

Kit Review

The GNHW series launched as a side-story kit line for Gundam 00 Season 2.
GNHW stands for GN Heavy Weapon, so think of it as a kind of heavy armament expansion. The first release is the GNHW/R version of Cherudim Gundam, where the R stands for Rifle.

Compared to the existing HG Cherudim Gundam, two additional weapon runners have been included, adding 6 GN Rifle Bits, 2 GN Beam Pistol IIs, a new tail part, and a backpack for mounting the GN Shield Bits. It's a modest weapons upgrade, but it makes the kit look a whole lot more substantial. ^^

That said, the tail has gotten so big that the center of gravity shifts way back. So if you don't balance it carefully, it keeps toppling over backwards.. The feet are also front-heavy, which makes it a bit tricky to stand stably — but thankfully the joints are solid, so that helps.

The 6 GN Rifle Bits are a type of bit weapon — like the GN Shield Bits, they can be individually controlled, but with the added ability to fire. The problem is there's no display stand to show them flying around like fin funnels, so recreating any kind of cool combat scene is pretty much impossible — you're basically just laying them out on the floor.. OTL

Overall it's a solid side-story kit, adding options that make the base kit look even better. The base kit itself is clean and well-made, so there's not much to worry about — if you like the look, this is an easy recommendation. :-)
