Kit Review

The Dorado, a mobile suit with a similar vibe to the Gafran, has been released as an HG kit. At first glance it might look like just a Gafran with slightly different skirt proportions and head design, but take a closer look and you'll see it's a completely different 100% new mold kit — same style, totally different shape. The Gafran's massive side skirts have been scaled down, and in exchange there's no transformation gimmick, giving this one a sleeker, more action-oriented feel.
As that slim body suggests, this kit has excellent articulation and makes it easy to pull off dynamic action poses. The three-section folding beam rifle — which looks almost like a tail — can be angled up or to the side to use as separate weapons, and it definitely looks cooler on a stand than just sitting on a flat surface. ^^
It trades the transformation gimmick for great action potential, and if you like the style, it's a kit that'll definitely satisfy. Personally, I think a kit like this — focused on mobility and action — is way more fun to work with than a half-baked transformer. :-)
