G-Exes Jackedge

Kit Review

Straight build

The HG G-Exes Jackedge has been released as a variant kit of the G-Exes. Like the Dark Hound before it, this is a pirate-themed design, and the combination of deep navy and grey gives it a nice, weighty color scheme.

Most of the basic parts are shared with the G-Exes, but the head and shoulder armor have been changed. On top of that, a bayonet knife has been added to the underside of the DODS Rifle II B — and the knife can be detached and used as a standalone weapon.

The overall quality is clean and solid as you'd expect from a modern HG kit, but the molded colors aren't particularly impressive. Part of that is just down to the design's color scheme, so there's not much you can do about it — it's the kind of look that doesn't really pop with just a straight build. That said, the striking jiangshi-inspired head design gives this kit a very different feel from the original G-Exes, and that's definitely a point in its favor.

It's a decent enough HG kit, but the somewhat bizarre and dark design is going to be a love-it-or-hate-it thing, so it's hard to give it a blanket recommendation. If you're into kits with a strong, intense look though, this is a perfectly solid build that's fun to put together. :-)
