Gundam AGE-3 Orbital

Kit Review

Straight build

The Orbital, one of the AGE-3 variants, has been released as an HG kit. Based on the AGE-3 Normal, it features bulkier shoulders and legs, pointed feet, and a large Sigma-Sys Long Cannon. Compared to the AGE-3 Normal, the overall color scheme shifts from blue to red with a more striking color combination, making it look like a completely different mobile suit.

First off, this kit has more impressive color separation than just about any other HG out there — not many HG kits look this colorful straight from a straight build. Even at 1/144 scale, the color separation is nearly perfect, and the finished look is really great. ^^ On top of that, the articulation is solid and the joint strength is nice and sturdy — overall a very clean, high-quality kit.

The transformation process is pretty much identical to the AGE-3 Normal, so there's nothing particularly new here.. The G-Viper transformation is super simple — it basically just comes down to folding the limbs and laying it flat. The Core Fighter and head unit connection is 100% the same structure as the Normal version.

All in all, this is a clean, high-quality HG kit, and it's easy to recommend to anyone who loves kits that come out looking colorful right from the straight build. :-)
