With the Fortress joining the Normal and Orbital in HG form, the HG AGE-3 trio lineup is now complete. True to the design, roughly half the body reuses parts straight from the existing HG AGE-3 kit, while the shoulders, legs, and weapons have all been added as new parts.
The AGE-3 Fortress has this chunky, hefty silhouette that's kind of reminiscent of Gundam Bael. In a similar vein, it's got four cannons mounted on the shoulders and forearms, so even a simple pose ends up looking incredibly dynamic. Being a recent HG, the articulation is solid and the joint strength is really sturdy, making it a genuinely fun kit to pose. ^^ The ankles in particular are nice and flexible, giving it great ground contact, so you'll barely feel the need for a stand.
The transformation feels a bit simpler than the original AGE-3 — just swap out the upper body and bend the limbs a couple of times and you're done. Maybe because the process is so straightforward, the end result doesn't look all that sharp (it's basically just an OTL pose...), but it does faithfully pull off the transformation as per the design specs.
In terms of pure quality, it's a very clean, high-quality HG — but like the others in the AGE line, it's a tough sell if you're not already an AGE fan. That said, if you're into the AGE-3 aesthetic, this is a solid, well-rounded kit that'll give you plenty of satisfaction to build. :-)
